CHAPTER SEVEN

  1. If you were watching Tom and Gatsby argue with each other about Daisy, would you intervene? If so, what would you say? (This is assuming that you're in Nick's place)

  2. Personally, if I were Nick I wouldn't intervene. Nick already gets invloved (not by choice) way too much. Either way, it's not like it has anything to do with him really, so he should just let them solve their own problems for once.

  3. I dont think i would intervene at first. Eventually after watching grown men fight i believe i would step in and tell them how absurd it is that they are fighting like they are little children but would not make any remarks on Daisy and their relationships with her. I would only say something that would bring attention to how they are acting.

  5. Does Tom show a lack of understanding and emotion in this chapter? and how does he show this?

  6. Tom is inept at understanding other people's emotions, because he tries to assert his ideas onto other people (particularly Daisy). He believes that he is always correct, and that Daisy is simply "confused" about what she really thinks.

  7. I don't tom has an lack of emotion. I think tom's understanding only comes from his point of view, he's a very self centered character.I think Tom lacks empathy toward other people.
